The Non-DOT Oral Fluid Train-the-Trainer course offered by WorkTraining.com is an expert-designed training course focused on providing learners with a train-the-trainer qualification for oral fluid drug testing. Training is ideal for those seeking to become proficient trainers or enhance their understanding of drug testing protocols, legalities, and best practices within their organizations.
Oral fluid drug testing, also known as saliva drug testing, is a method of testing for drug use that involves the collection and analysis of saliva from an individual's mouth. This method is non-invasive, easy to administer, and can be conducted anywhere, making it convenient for both the tester and the individual being tested.
The test works by detecting the presence of drug metabolites in the saliva. When a person uses drugs, the active compounds are metabolized by the body, and traces of these metabolites can be found in various bodily fluids, including saliva.
Oral fluid drug testing can detect a wide range of substances, including but not limited to:
- Marijuana (THC)
- Cocaine
- Opiates (including heroin, morphine, and codeine)
- Amphetamines (including methamphetamine)
- Phencyclidine (PCP)
- Benzodiazepines
- Barbiturates
- Methadone
- Synthetic cannabinoids (also known as "Spice" or "K2")
- Ecstasy/MDMA
Oral fluid tests are particularly effective at detecting recent drug use. While urine tests can detect drug use several days to a week prior, oral fluid tests typically detect drugs used within the past 24-48 hours. This makes them especially useful in situations where recent impairment is a concern, such as workplace testing or roadside testing for driving under the influence.
The training, structured over two hours of online learning with another 1-2 hours of instructor lead training, is a blend of theoretical understanding and practical application. It covers various topics, such as, but not limited to, proper chain-of-custody procedures, the most common scenario collectors will encounter, and more.
Training includes virtual mock collections and scenario training, an online quiz, and all training supplies for initial qualification training. On completing the course, learners receive a certificate valid across all 50 states. The course offers flexibility with both online and in-person learning options, accommodating the needs and convenience of the learners.
Corporate trainers will be provided an instructor account to register new learners and their initital proficiency for $30 per person per course. Volume trainers can subscribe to our eLearning platform, which also includes pre-made courseware or license SCORM files for third-party systems.
